As we open the month Pluto lowers his hand, having demonstrated his tremendous power since moving into Aquarius on March 23rd. His task (and delight) is to drop the veil of illusion by bringing an abundance of endings and beginnings. We cannot control, he whispers. We must evolve. Pluto’s retrograde May 1st through October 10th lets us catch our breath and shake out our legs, to stretch and metabolize all that has taken place.

Though retrograde, Pluto delivers more muscle tremors this month through the shadowed moon. He governs the lunar eclipse in Scorpio on May 5th, the series finale in two years of chaos and exhale. Pluto also holds a strong influence over the new moon in Taurus on May 19th, when he aligns with the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, and Mars as this lunation occurs. What do worth and wealth mean to you? What if your sustenance comes to you in ways you’ve never imagined?

When Venus moves into Cancer on May 7th, we feel a relieving plunge into a cold pool. This year the goddess delivers a Virgin birth - she does not meet with Mars again until 2024 - and instead shows us what she can produce on her own. The skies don’t see a resolution to gender disputes any time soon. It may be necessary to separate and restore before we can see eye to eye.

May and the coming summer recall Renaissance energy. As Jupiter enters Taurus on the 16th, we scorn minimalism to sink into lushness and high creative drama. We seek union with the Divine, the planets, the earth, and stars. We yearn to stretch the boundaries of science and philosophy. We acknowledge the Great Chain of Being as the eternal sphere, with source energy flowing through all life forms in all directions.
